It has come to our attention that a few of our children are using the app Musical.ly. Please take a look at the information below and talk to your children about what they are doing online, and how to stay safe when using this type of app.
What is Musical.ly?
Imagine Instagram, YouTube and karaoke rolled into one, and you just about get Musical.ly.
The latest app to get massively popular off the social video craze, Musical.ly lets you make and share music videos. Pick your song from within the app and dance or sing along for up to 15 seconds, choose from a variety of editing effects and share your video or save it privately.
The app also has a live streaming feature called Live.ly and a direct messaging service called Directl.ly.
New apps come and go all the time but Musical.ly's popularity looks to be the real thing with more than 90 million registered users, many of whom are teens.1 CEOP have produced a guide for parents and carers explaining what Musical.ly is, how it works and how to help your child use it safely.
