Dear Parents/carers

Hello everyone, first full week gone already.

The children have settled really well back into their new classes and the routines of school. It has been so good to see the children sitting back in groups and in the hall for assemblies. It really does feel like there is some normality coming back. There is a real buzz around school that is so good to hear. I am sure you will see that when you attend the upcoming Welcome Meetings.

It will be great to see you in school once again.

However, we are still very conscious of safety and are carrying out rigorous sanitisation and cleaning in school. We will still also ask that a mask be worn inside the building and would greatly appreciate your support in this.

KS1 0ne-way system at home time

Thank you for continuing with the one-way system in KS1. I would like to remind you that parents/carers should not “jump the queue” and push in front of people who have been queuing in the correct way.

This is very frustrating for parents/carers who are doing what has been asked and lining up in the right place.

Y1 parents/carers will be asked in first at 3.10pm and Y2 at 3.20pm.

If you have a child in Y1 and Y2 then you can wait at the side of the yard on a seat until Year 2 come out once you have collected your Year 1 child. Please do not just wait by the lines as we need to see the children in Y2 coming out.

We must ensure that safety is our absolute priority and that staff can very clearly see who every child goes with. Thank you for your support with this.

I would also like to remind parents/carers that if they are going to be late to pick up after school to ring the office. Please ensure you check your child’s finish time carefully. The children really do not like to be the last one to be collected.

COVID

Yesterday I sent an email with DCC COVID advice. On taking further advice anyone who lives with someone who has COVID should take a PCR test not just a LF Test. If that is negative then the child/children can return to school. There is still much confusing advice out there. But test and trace should now contact any close contacts.

Mornings

Children coming into school each morning is working really well. Thank you for ensuring your children are here on time. This is so important. The children really do miss so much when they are late.

Don’t forget Breakfast Club is now on each morning in both KS1 hall, for EYs and KS1 children, and in the dining room for KS2 children. Entry is 8.20am to 8.30am and priced at £1.50 per day.

Reminders

Please do not smoke e cigarettes on the premises or directly outside of school. Thank you

Parking and stopping on zig zag lines remains an issue. Please think before stopping as your number will be taken and passed to the police.

Please continue to ring the main office if you are going to be late or have anything to drop off at the office during the day. The phones are on from 8.30am each morning until 4.30pm after school, Monday to Thursday and 4pm each Friday.

School improvements and possible new build

The windows are looking fabulous. We are looking very smart with our new windows, school has been totally transformed.

Completely separate to this we are still on the DfE list for either refurbishment or new build. There will be a number of surveys carried out from October this year leading to a decision by October 2022 as to what the plans will be. Watch this space!

Dates

Welcome Meetings – week beginning 20thSeptember

17th September – Jeans for Genes- children wear jeans or alternate bottoms and school uniform on top

Further dates will be issued when decisions have been made

Thank you for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to ring or email with any questions.

Have a lovely weekend.
