Newsletter - Thursday 26th August 2021

26 August 2021 (by Vicky)

Dear Parents/carers

Hello everyone. Here we are almost at the end of the quickest 6 weeks ever! I cannot believe how fast it has all gone.

I hope you have all had a fantastic time, wherever you have been and whatever you have done, and enjoyed the mostly, lovely weather.

I am writing this to remind you that all children are back to school on Thursday 2nd September and of the routines that will be in place.

From September 2nd, we will be following the new DfE Guidance. Many of the routines will stay in place in school.

This includes:

· Ensuring all rooms are well ventilated

· Continuing with all handwashing and sanitising throughout the day

· Keeping toilets separate for year groups

· The cleaning regime will remain rigorous with the use of wipes and sanitiser throughout the day

· Although children are not in “Bubbles” staggered playtimes and lunchtimes will remain

· Should there be a case of COVID, parents/carers will be informed to keep their child away from school to isolate

· Parents/carers should continue to contact school via email and phone call. Visits into school must be arranged. If the children have forgotten anything, please ring school before dropping off forgotten items.

· Please ensure your child has any medication they may need e.g. inhalers and that you have completed a Medical Consent form so staff can administer medication

· If children are going to be late please ring school to arrange to be met at the correct entrance

· Messages can be passed to senior staff at the main gates

· Tapestry (Early Years) Planners and DB Primary (Year 1-Year 6) will continue to be the main points of contact between parents/carers and class teachers

· Any visitors into the school building will be kindly asked to wear a mask/face covering

· The pick-up of EYs/KS1 children will remain as the same one way system

· PE kits will continue to be worn on PE days. This is PE kit on the bottom, white tee shirt and school jumper. No other sweatshirts or hoodies should be worn. Trainers can be worn on PE days but on no other days.

· The office should be informed when children are going to be absent. Attendance will once again be of very high importance.

Changes include:

ü Children sitting in groups

ü “Bubbles” not closed if there is a case of COVID, Test and Trace will contact all close contacts and they will be advised to take a PCR test.

ü Masks are no longer required on school premises if outside- this remains an individual choice

ü Children will be allowed to bring bags into school

ü Educational Visits will start again this term

ü Breakfast Clubs will start on Monday 6th September 8.20am start £1.50 per day -more detailed information to follow

ü Afterschool clubs will start week beginning 13th September – information to follow

We will continue to use different entrances and pick up points. These will be sign posted on the first day and senior staff will be at each gate.

Other reminders

ü Uniform must be worn at all times, please remember skinny jeans and trainers are not uniform. As always, there should be no jewellery, large bows or extreme hairstyles.

ü Remember the same rules apply for parking and dropping off. Please do not drop off on zig zag lines or at the entrances to school.

It is expected that there will be a spike in COVID once schools re-open.

We will continue to be very vigilant and by keeping many of our routines, I hope that we do not see this in Sugar Hill.

I will continue to ensure your child’s safety is of the highest priority while at the same time giving the children the very best learning experiences in a much more normal environment.

I want to thank you all for your support during 2020/21 and I look forward to working with you all again in 2021/22.

Mrs Paula O’Rourke
